POONCH :- A meeting of senior officers from Border Road Organisation and District Administration was convened by DDC Poonch Mohammad Aijaz Asad for discussing the issues related to various roads in the district which are being maintained by of BRO.
The Officials of Border Roads organisation(BRO) informed the meeting that upgradation of BG-Surankote highway as a National Highway double lane NHDL express way would be taken up soon and also discussed about Jammu-Surankote NH (219-236 km) for which NIT has been published and work will start after two months. DDC discussed the issue of Surankote-Jogimorh stretch and directed them to make DPR and strengthen it in minimum possible time.
BRO further informed the meeting about the proposal which has been initiated to strengthen the BG-Mendhar -Balnoi road. It was given out that proposal stands submitted to Ministry of Finance after directions of DDC in the previous meeting. DDC directed them to submit the action taken report on the above mentioned road within 10 days positively. BRO also discussed about the resurfacing of Mankote to KG top road, Banwat to Badari, Kalai to Jhulas and blacktopping of Mandi-Khet to Sawjian road, Pindi- Doda road.
DDC also discussed about the widening of Surankote-Bufliaz road and directed BRO officials to prepare the DPR for its double laning. The DDC was assured that issue of this road will be taken up with higher authorities for a positive action in the shortest possible time.
The DDC directed the concerned authorities to complete the construction of Kalai Bridge before ending July so that it can be thrown open for public use. He further directed BRO officials to propose new bridge at Nangali Sahab as part of four lane B.G-Poonch Road and complete it without further delay.
It was decided that a coordinating committee of Revenue and BRO officials will actively settle all pending land issues and facilitate the construction of roads, payment of compensation and removal of encroachments.
Among others ADDC Poonch, OC Grief, ACR Poonch, Tehsildars Mandi, Haveli and Surankote attended the meeting.
