DDC Rajouri lays foundation stone of Government Degree College at Koteranka


Rajouri July 19: District Development Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad today laid the foundation stone of Government Degree College, Koteranka.The ceremony was held in presence of R.A Inqlabi, special secretary to government, Higher Education department. Senior officers of JKPCC and other officers of district administration were also present on the occasion.

A large number of people from the nearby areas, Sarpanchs, Panchs and other prominent persons were present on the occasion.The Sarpanchs and panchs on the occasion informed that the students of this area have to move to Rajouri for pursuing their higher studies and they added that this issue shall be resolved with the establishment of this college.They also thanked Governor Administration for the sanctioning of the College for this far flung area of the District Rajouri.

Addressing locals after foundation laying ceremony, DDC congratulated the public and said that a long pending demand for a Government Degree College in the area has been fulfilled. He said that the Governor’s administration is committed to take quality higher education to the rural and far-flung areas of the State.He also said the responsibility of the construction have been entrusted upon JKPCC and the college which will be constructed at an estimated cost of 13.00 crore and completed by 2021 would provide necessary educational facilities to the students. The college will be constructed in phase manner during first phase 6 classroom,one computer lab, Administrator room, principal room,staff rooms will be constructed.

He hoped that the establishment of this college will have a huge social impact on the area, besides it will reduce the financial implications on the students who earlier had to travel to Rajouri to pursue higher education.

Special Secretary ,Higher Education,R.A Inqlabi said that the Governor adminstration has already initiated several measures for strengthening the educational infrastructure in the State so that people living in rural and far-flung areas get quality educational facilities within their catchment area.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kotranka,ved Parkash, Principal GDC Rajouri Shakeel Raina were also present on the occasion.
