In continued efforts of Distt administration Rajouri to the district free from the menace of drugs, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, today inaugurated Drug De-addiction,, counseling, Rehabilitation and skill development Centre, at District Hospital Rajouri, in presence of Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajouri, Yougal Manhas and Medical superintendent, Dr. Mehmood Hussain Bajar.
While speaking on the occasion Deputy Commissioner said drug addiction and substance abuse affects the capabilities and energies of the youth and it is the responsibility of all stakeholders to work together and eradicate the growing menace, which has risen to an alarming level in modern society.
DC said we would have to address the major reasons which lead the youth to take drugs, besides de-addicting the drug users. Drug abuse makes the youth dependent, incapable to face the challenges and finally costs their life. He further said the drugs addicts will involve themselves in nefarious activities.
Understanding its social and moral responsibility the district administration in association with the district police administration has taken initiatives for the physical, mental and skill development of the youth of the district.
The drug de-addiction, skill development, counseling and rehabilitation center, Rajouri is equipped with proper infrastructure to treat drug addicts as patients. Currently in the said center has 10 beds and the technical support will be provided by Civil and Police administration.
Besides that, DC also directed the medical superintendent to submit a DPR for development of indoor game facility for channelizing the energies of affected youth. An isolation room would also be constructed adjoining the main hall.
DC stressed for joint efforts by all stakeholders to overcome the menace and save the youngsters from drug consumption, which also leads to other evils and crimes.
DC said our main purpose is to make Rajouri a drug free district and to bring the addicts in the mainstream society. He said the main motto of skill development is to make a drug addict stand on his own feet after his discharge from the Centre so that he could live a life full of dignity.
DC also asked the medical superintendent to submit a report about the material required to make it fully functional like drugs, machinery and other consumables at the earliest.
