New Delhi: A day after his son’s party forged a post-poll alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party to form the next government in Haryana, Ajay Chautala was on Saturday granted a 14-day furlough. Ajay Chautala is in Tihar Jail after conviction in a teacher recruitment scam along with his father and four-time Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala.Ajay was granted furlough for two weeks on Saturday.Ajay Chautala is scheduled to leave Tihar jail either on Saturday evening or Sunday morning.
According to Director General (Prisons) Sandeep Goel, Ajay Chautala has been granted a two-week furlough and it will start from the day he will step out of the jail premises.On his father getting furlough, Dushyant said: “Can’t my father celebrate Diwali with his family.He said that his father has a right to get furlough. “Till yesterday, the model code of conduct was in force. So he got furlough today.Ajay got furlough through administrative procedure, said the chief minister.The BJP on Friday had sealed an alliance in Haryana with Dushyant Chautala’s JJP, which won 10 seats in the 90-member Haryana Assembly. The deal was sealed in a meeting between BJP President Amit Shah and Dushyant Chautala after the hung assembly triggered suspense and high-drama.
Shah, without hesitation, accepted the offer made by the JJP to give Deputy Chief Minister’s post to the party.Ajay Chautala and his father Om Prakash Chautala were convicted on January 16, 2013, by a Delhi court for illegally recruiting 3,206 junior basic teachers 12 years ago. They were held guilty of tampering with the selection list of teachers, nepotism and favouritism.
