Hyderabad: The Narendra Modi government has repeatedly betrayed its oath of upholding the Constitution, MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi said in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

Speaking during the debate on the motion of thanks to the President’s address, Mr Owaisi said, “When you have taken oath under the Constitution how can you state that the excess land in the Babri Masjid issue must be given to one religion? This is betrayal of the Constitution.”

Meanwhile Owaisi on Thursday mocked the ‘Bharat Ratna’ and said that India’s highest civilian honour is a club of Brahmins and of those who belong to upper castes.”Bharat Ratna has become an exclusive club of the Brahmins and the upper caste,” AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said, while addressing the Lok Sabha on the sixth of the Budget Session of the Parliament. Owaisi claimed that the selection process to choose winners for India’s highest civilian award was never “transparent.”

He also took jibes at PM Narendra Modi and said that his cabinet had betrayed the oath of allegiance to the Constitution. “The day the PM, in December 2017, asked whether you want a mandir or a masjid, he betrayed this oath .Because he cannot side with one religion or the other.
