Sahil Sharma:- The locals of tehsil teryath of district Rajouri has once again fully ignored for third time in granting or opening of degree college in their area.Instead of being a centre of three constituencies namely Reasi, Nowshera and Kalakote, the people of the area have been continuously demanding the same for the last couple of years but ignored every time.
It is pertinent to mention here that the State Administrative Council (SAC) which met on 28th of last month under the chairmanship of Governor, Satya Pal Malik accorded sanction to the establishment of 10 new Government Degree Colleges at various locations during the years 2019- 2020- 2021 in which district Rajouri got only one degree college at dharal. In all, governor’s administration has approved 50 degree colleges so far.
According to the official information, Tehsil teryath is surrounded by five higher secondary schools namely HSS Teryath, HSS Mogla, HSS Bharkh, HSS Devak, HSS Khwas and one newly upgraded hr.sec.school at Narla. Also, the strength in all mentioned higher secondries including the newly upgraded is more than 800.Similarly, the distance from teryath to GDC Sunderbani and GDC Kalakote is 50 km whereas the distance between teryath and GDC Reasi is 70Km.
“Being a far flung and backward area of the district, we were very hopeful that step motherly and discriminatory attitude from the government would not be done with us but we have been ignored this time also.In this regard, we have already submitted a memorandum to tehsildar teryath. So,we would again approach the higher authorities and appeal to Honorable governor to kindly review this unjust decision otherwise we would start a massive protest which include sarpanches of all the 35 panchayats along with local population of our area”, said Sarpanch Vinod Bazal, District President, All J&K Panchayat Conference (AJKPC).
There is a dire need for a degree college in our area because it would cater surrounding areas also like Pouni, Reasi, Mogla, Khwas which covers a population of over one lakh. So,we demand to governor’s administration that a degree collage should be open in teryath otherwise a strong protest would be taken out from all the panchayats in our area”,added Mr.Bhushan uppal, Sarpanch, Khabar.
“It is very unfortunate to see that the long pending demand of opening of degree college in far flung area of teryath was ignored once again. This is a big joke with our sentiments”,quoted Mr.Ashok Sharma, Ex.MLA/ MLC, Kalakote.
