NEW DELHI: At least nine people were killed and three injured after a fire at a hotel in Delhi’s Karol Bagh area early this morning.
Twenty-six fire engines were sent to the spot after the fire broke out at Hotel Arpit Palace around 4 am. Most people in the hotel were sleeping at the time.Video recorded on cellphones by eye-witnesses showed huge flames crowning the terrace of the white five-storey building. Some people jumped off the building to escape the fire, witnesses said.
The fire broke out at Hotel Arpit Palace on the Gurudwara road in Karol Bagh at 4:35 AM.Twenty-four fire tenders were rushed to the spot.This comes a week after a massive fire broke out in the ICU of Metro Hospitals and Heart Institute at Noida Sector 12. According to officials, 66 patients were in the hospital, including 16 in the ICU, when the fire broke out around noon. No one was seriously injured and all the patients were evacuated, with most transferred to the hospital’s branch in Sector 11, a few hundred metres away.
