Now CM Rupani appeals to migrants to return Gujarat


Ahmedabad: Additional forces were deployed in industrial areas in Gujarat for the security of Hindi-speaking migrants after attacks on them sparked their exodus that prompted the state government on Monday to make an appeal for their return.Assuring security to the migrants, the Gujarat government said 431 people were arrested and 56 FIRs registered in connection with the attacks, as Chief Minister Vijay Rupani appealed to people not to engage in violence.Claiming that no untoward incident had taken place during the last 48 hours, Rupani said the situation has been brought under control by police.

Amid mass exodus of migrants following violence that broke out over toddler rape, a political blame game begun in the state between Congress and BJP. The ruling party BJP has blamed Congress MLA Alpesh Thakor for instigating the violence.Meanwhile Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has attacked Congress Rahul Gandhi for his tweet blaming the ruling party for recent attacks on migrant workers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in the state.In a series of hard-hitting tweets, the Gujarat Chief Minister blamed the Congress party for inciting violence.Congress first incites violence against migrants. [Then] Congress president tweets to condemn this violence. Does the Congress president not have any shame?” Rupani said in a series of tweets.

Police have filed 35 complaints and detained around 450 persons for attacking the migrant community residing in Gujarat, Minister of State for Home Pradeepsinh Jadeja said on Monday.After the rape of a toddler, there were widespread attacks on migrant labourer residents, especially from north India, believing that some from the community were responsible for the ghastly crime.”We have registered 35 FIRs for the violence on the north Indian migrants in the state. We have detained 450 persons and further interrogations are on,” said Jadeja.
