Three-storey building collapse in Mohali, debris removal work at site

On Saturday afternoon, the three storey building collapsed in punjab’s-Mohali district. The debris removal operations are being carried on the site to check nobody gets trapped under the fallen structure.

The incident took place when the JCB was digging an adjoining plot for the construction of the basement.Kharar’s Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Himanshu Jain said.

The officials said the heavy earth moving machine might have hit the foundation of the building, but added that the exact cause of the incident would be known after the inquiry.

One person was killed and two others were rescued from the commercial building collapsed site.

According the NDRF officials the debris is being removed from the site for assuring no track of anyone collapsed under the collapsed building and are still on the standby if the need arises.

The JCB driver died on the spot,said the Mohali deputy commissioner Girish Dayalan. The body of harinder singh was later taken by the rescuers on saturday evening.

The district administration authorities and the police has checked with the contractor and the company officials and were told that none of their labours or employees  has been hurt or missing from the site.

Three persons has been rescued from the site.

Taking serious note of the building collapse, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had asked the Mohali Additional District Magistrate to conduct a thorough probe into the incident and submit his report within a week.

Girish Dayalan said, SDM has been asked to inquire the incident.

The investigation has been set to find out what was the reason behind the collapse. Whether the builder has the requisite permission to do this, will be known after the inquiry.

The state government said, They would also ascertain that the construction was illegal or not.

The rescue team of 30-members from National disaster rescue force (NDRF) was called at set up rescue operation. Later on one more team of NDRF was called from Ludhiana.
